DIVISIONAL COMPETITION
With the exceptions of cross-country, swimming and diving, and outdoor track and field, any sport in which 13 or more schools participate during that season will compete by division (AA Division and A Division). Divisional championships are determined by both regular-season and tournament results, with schools eligible to earn championship banners by capturing titles in either series of competitions.
At the conclusion of each season, the school finishing in last place in the AA Division for a particular sport will move to the A Division for the following season, while the top team in the A Division will move to the AA Division for the following season. In case of a tie, head to head competition will be used to determine divisional movement. If still tied, the team in the A Division with the best overall finish in the tournament shall move up and the team in the AA Division with the best overall finish in the tournament shall remain in the upper division. Overall League Champions will be determined in cross‑country, swimming, and track at the season ending meet.
For the following sports: field hockey, soccer, tennis, volleyball, basketball, lacrosse and softball, if the league/divisional champion from the regular season wins the tournament they are the outright ISL champion, if not they will be named co-champions with the tournament winner.
